The category

What sonic branding actually is

Sonic branding is the strategic use of sound to build and reinforce a brand — the audio equivalent of a visual identity system. It isn’t picking a good track for one ad. It’s an ownable audio presence that turns up in the same shape everywhere your brand does: advertising, apps, retail floors, podcasts, events, and the hold music nobody thinks about until they’re listening to it.

The reason it’s worth building is simple. Sound works where nobody is looking at the screen — in a feed scrolled one-handed, through a voice assistant, out of a car speaker. A visual logo does nothing in any of those places. System1’s research puts audio at the top of the list for building brand recognition, and most small brands still have none at all.

The other thing worth knowing: the agencies who do this for DHL, Nestlé, and United Healthcare quote in the tens of thousands and don’t publish a rate. That’s the gap this page exists to close.

Sonic logo
Two to six seconds that identify the brand without saying a word. Also called an audio logo, a sound mark, or a mnemonic. The Intel chime. The Netflix ta-dum.
Jingle
Fifteen to thirty seconds carrying a message or lyric. Works as an ad on its own, where a sonic logo works as punctuation.
Audio identity
The whole system — logo, score, product sounds, voice — plus the rules for using it across every channel.
Brand sound system
A library built to your brief, so nothing you make later has to start from a stock search.

Questions

Sonic branding, answered

What is sonic branding?

Sonic branding is the strategic use of sound to build and reinforce a brand — the audio equivalent of a visual identity system. It covers the sonic logo, jingles, custom score, product and interface sounds, and voice, applied consistently across advertising, apps, retail, podcasts, events, and on-hold systems.

What is a sonic logo?

A short audio asset, usually two to six seconds, that identifies a brand the way a visual logo does. It’s also called an audio logo, a sound mark, or a mnemonic. The Intel chime and the Netflix ta-dum are the two everybody knows.

How much does a sonic logo cost?

Agencies serving global brands typically quote in the tens of thousands and don’t publish rates at all. Ours: $299 for a sonic logo and identity kit, $599 for a commercial jingle and campaign kit, $1,200 for a custom score with a full brand sound system. Those are the prices.

What’s the difference between a sonic logo and a jingle?

A sonic logo is a few seconds long and identifies the brand without saying anything. A jingle is longer, usually fifteen to thirty seconds, and carries a message or lyric — it works as an ad in its own right. Most brands want the sonic logo first, because it turns up everywhere.

How fast is delivery?

Sonic logo and identity kit: 72 hours. Jingle and campaign kit: five to seven days. Custom score and brand sound system: two to three weeks.

Do I own the audio, and can I use it commercially?

Yes. Every package includes a full commercial licence, professional mix and master, and delivery in WAV and MP3. No per-use fees, no royalties to report.

Do I need a sonic logo if I already have a visual one?

Increasingly, yes. Audio works where nobody is looking at the screen — podcasts, voice assistants, in-app sounds, a feed scrolled one-handed with the sound on. A visual logo does nothing in any of those places, and System1’s research puts audio at the top for building recognition.

What does your brand sound like?

If the answer is a shrug, that’s the whole argument. Pick a package and we start, or send a brief if it’s bigger than one.
